Asia's Challenges

  • More than 81% of the five billion non-Christians in the world live on this continent.
  • In this continent live 85% of the world's unevangelized individuals, Asia also has 9 of the 10 world's largest unevangelized populations. There are approximately 320 millions of people in China that have never heard about Jesus. Of the 600 cities and villages in India, 500 has not even a Church Worker.
  • Presence of the three largest non-Christian religious: Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism; which are the biggest challenges for Christians. There are around 1.1 billion Muslims, 950 million Hindus, and between 500-900 million Buddhists.
  • It is estimated that approximately two thousand languages still have no bible translation,  40% of them are in Asia.
  • Asia is affected by strong earthquakes, volcanoes, droughts, cyclones, tsunamis and floods, which have claimed million lives, and caused others to become homeless, needing many workers to provide humanitarian aid, and in all life areas.
  • Asia, the world's largest and most populous continent, has a long history of opium cultivation. The immense amount of drug money also corrupts political institutions,
  • Southeast Asia remains as a hub for human trafficking. The region is a source and destination country for men, women and children subjected to forced labour and the sex trade. It is also a transit point for traffickers from other parts of the world.
  • HIV/AIDS - The epidemic is expanding and intensifying in Asia, mainly in India, Thailand and China, due to the continuing growth of the sex industry.
  • The economic growth of the Asian Tigers brought to the world high technology and cheap export manufactures, but in the other hand, they are the top economies for low-cost manufacturing, resulting in hardworking labor for low wages.
  • The rise of Islamic extremism has, in some Muslim dominant areas, led to persecution and, in the worse cases, torture and death. Christians in North Korea are said to be the most persecuted in the world.
